About

 Welcome (1)

lil bit I’m Amber. I’m a 20 year old New England girl, from a small town in Western Massachusetts. I currently live in South Florida with my boyfriend (but will soon be venturing back to the Northeast together come Fall-time.) I was born into a family that holds their Native American heritage & values very close to their hearts. More specifically my Father’s side, who are Penobscot natives from Old Town, Maine. Being raised in such a family, there was a deep appreciation and love for nature instilled in me. (Don’t get me wrong, I loved TV & video games just as much as the next kid) but I loved being outdoors more, and that love was carried into my adult life.

“As a spiritual person, nature for me has always been a healing place. Going back all the way to my childhood, the fields and forests were places of adventure and self-discovery. Animals were companions and friends, and the world moved at a slower, more rational pace.”

– David Mixner

In my day-to-day life you can find me outdoors sipping on some tea, writing, curled up with my cat, watching Practical Magic for the thousandth time, or listening to Stevie Nicks. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a die-hard Stevie fan. My Father brought me up on classic rock, always letting me choose which album we’d listen to in the car when I was younger. Every time it was Stevie or Fleetwood Mac. I’ve always loved her raspy voice and witchy aesthetic. I actually considered naming my daughter (if someday I am ever blessed with one) Rhiannon 😉

A Little About the Blog...Why “Cinder n’ Sage”? In many spiritual practices, the burning of sage leaves represents cleansing, purification, and healing. That’s what I’d like to promote here. For those of you who know my blog from when it was What Makes Me Amber, you’ll know that I have a strong passion for cooking & baking but would often share recipes (typically sweets) that weren’t the healthiest. Putting aside what I shared on the blog, my personal eating habits weren’t the best either. For a long time I was knowingly putting toxins into my body which has resulted in a clouded mental state and a fatigued body. I just couldn’t feel like that anymore.

It’s never too late to make a change. I want to share my learning experience, my journey, of healing the body and mind by utilizing what the Earth provides us with naturally. I’d like to continue to share my love of cooking but in a positive way, creating nutrient-dense recipes that you can feel good about making for yourself and your family. It seems only right to combine the two things I love most (being in nature, and being in the kitchen) to do good.

A Little About the Blog...

Natural Remedies, Bath/Beauty, & AromatherapyThrough these posts I showcase other various ways to utilize natural ingredients, either with detailed DIY’s or simple lists (please read disclaimer here.) I also occasionally post honest reviews of natural & organic bath or beauty products that I’ve tried (I will always disclose if the review is sponsored), but most of the time I purchase these products on my own and just feel like sharing!

Spirituality – These posts may not be for everyone, but a big part of my life lately has been discovering spirituality and nourishing that part of my soul. The majority of these posts are focused around nature, how to develop and preserve a connection with it. If I do mention labels or touch on religion, please know it is never meant to offend. I fully acknowledge that we all have different beliefs and are walking different paths. I will always support coexistence & promote religious tolerance. That being said, I will not tolerate hate, rudeness, disrespect, or bullying here.

Travel & Places – Here I simply share places I’ve been, and tips for you should you ever plan to travel there. This could include both urban and nature destinations, for instance I’ve shared my favorite stops in Salem, MA and also my experiences at a few state parks.

Music & Artists – Pretty self-explanatory, every now and again I come across a new artist, band, or even a song that I fall in love with and want to share. I love discovering new music, I’m hoping you do too.

Coffee Thoughts – What I like to call my random ramblings I’d be having with you if we were both sat down with a good cup of coffee…or tea…or cocoa (whichever you prefer). These are often thoughts I have to myself while I’m drinking my morning java. Anything goes here, feel free to ramble with me in the comments 🙂

Stay a while!

Always2

  1. Hello, Amber.

Thank you for nominating me for the Sunshine Award a few weeks ago. I’m very chuffed. However, I wanted to let you know that even though I truly appreciate the blog award nomination, unfortunately I decided that I wouldn’t participate in blog awards any more since I found it difficult to incorporate into my blog format. I love to show my appreciation for other bloggers, but I choose to do it in other ways (e.g. Share other bloggers’ recipes in my posts and link to their blogs). Just I don’t want you to think that just because I didn’t post about the award that I didn’t appreciate it because I honestly do!

I like your healthy and inspiring blog. I will share your recipes one day if you don’t mind.

    Best wishes

  2. Hi Amber! I love your blog. I recently was challenged to a 12 days of Christmas Blogging Challenge and part of the challenge is to tag 3 people to join in. I know you are already doing a lot of Christmas stuff on your blog (which I love!), but these could easily be quick posts to add so that your readers know a little more about you! It is posted on my page with the link to the rules as well. Happy Blogging! https://lifeoftracie.wordpress.com/
